We're proud to be part of the Breed Up Program to bring Valais Blacknose Sheep to the US!
Valais at Grateful Acres is a small farm in rural Berks County Pennsylvania. We are part of the breed up program to bring this endearing breed of sheep to the United States and we are proud to be one of the founding members of the Valais Blacknose International Sheep Breeders Association and Registry. In our breeding program we are striving to meet the Swiss Standard for the Valais Blacknose Sheep breed. We started our program with Scottish Blackface Sheep as our foundation stock and an F1 and F2 ewe. We breed using only imported semen from top quality rams with Maximum Point genetics on both sides of their pedigree. By using only the best genetics, our flock will reach domestic purebred status by F4 for ewes and F5 for rams.
Using the best genetics, we’re breeding towards becoming purebred status by F4 for ewes and F5 for rams.
Say hello to our friendly sheep!
Unlike most sheep, Valais Blacknose Sheep love to to interact with people, making them very dog-like and are very trainable. They enjoy being petted and scratched.
